Critique on Maria Makiling

The Legend of Maria Makiling is a story of a myth or a goddess that is Maria. Maria is the diwata associated with the Mount Makiling in Laguna. She is the guardian spirit that is responsible for taking care of the mountain. The mountain was told where people went there gets lost. 

In the mountain of Laguna there was a girl named Maria Makiling. She is kind and beautiful. She once gave a man a bilao of ginger which turns into a bilao of gold. She has a lot of suitors. Captain Lara, a spanish soldier; Joselito, a spanish mestizo studying in Manila and Juan, a common farmer. All of her suitors want to konw if they were the one that was chosen by Maria. Until the moon comes out and Maria told them that it was Jaun she chose. Her suitors gets mad and jealous that made them took revenge to Juan. They burn the house and told that Juan was responsible for burning the house. Juan gets in prison and got tortured. Maria gets mad and she cursed the place which is the Mount Makiling. The mountain was told where people went there gets lost. 

The Mount Makilingis located at Laguna. It is often said that Mount Makiling resembles the profile of a woman, said to be Maria herself. This phenomenon is described as true from several different perspectives, so there is no single location associated with this claim. The mountain’s various peaks are said to be Maria’s face and two breasts, respectively, and her hair cascades downwards a gentle slope away from her body.         

Maria is kind and beautiful. There is a man that has its child that is ill. Maria gave the man a bilao of ginger which became a bilao of gold. The curse she gave in the village to the people who is the responsible for the thing they accused Juan shows her great love for Juan. Conclusion.          The Legend of Maria Makiling is about a curse happened in the mountain of Laguna. The mountain was named Mount Makiling because of the legend about Maria Makiling. The contour of the mountain is said to be that of her in a reclining position. The disappearance of the people are attributed to the diwata or to spirits who follow her. The mountain was told where people went there gets lost.
